AudioBoo.

Hello!

Let’s try something different this time. As you know, speaking properly is pretty important when you are learning a new language, so it seemed interesting to me to include AudioBoo in an exercise. With this useful tool, you can record your own tapes and then you can upload or send them to someone else.

The idea is that you record yourselves describing a place, the one you feel most comfortable with. It can be your bedrrom, your house, your neighborhood, a country, etcétera. Then, you will have to send it to me through AudioBoo. The only thing you need to upload your records is an account. Do not worry, it is quite easy to create a new account, but if you happen to have any trouble, you can take a look at the following video:

Using the senses.

Hey!

In this oportunity I am going to develop a new topic, that is, the use of senses in description of places. Sometimes senses are used when you are describing places to give the reader a most vivid picture of what you are saying.

In the Caribbean, people can dive on the ocean watching the sun rising over them. (Sight)

Did you visit Rome? So you must have heard the sound of cathedrals situated near the Vatican ringing. (Hearing)

I recall India with its aromas of exotic spices. (Smell)

If you travel through Spain, you should sit in a bar and enjoy a cup of freshly-ground coffee. (Taste)

Roman Baths are famous around the world because people relax in the warm waters. (Touch)

Take a look at the image I have created:

Now, try to make sentences about the picture which has not been described. Here you have some examples:

Sit outside one of the many charming cafes in Rome and smell the delicious aroma of coffee is absolutely beautiful.

Walking across the port feeling the fresh sea air is one of my favorite activities in Cartagena.

What can be better than enjoying a peaceful walk through a forest in Dublin, hearing the relaxing sound of the leaves rustling?

Places you go on holidays.

Howdy!

Today’s lesson is completely based on places you usually visit or go to when you are on holiday.

Museums – art galleries – churches/cathedrals – Tourists shops – Concerts – Discos/Night clubs – The Cinema – Markets – Restaurants – Bars – Theatres.

You can try creating some sentences with the ones you selected. For instance:

Last summer I went to Nick Cave’s concert in Chicago. It was an impressive performance.
